New kayaks in 2014
It looks like lots of new kayaks are coming out for 2014. Jackson is coming out with the "Big Rig." Wilderness Systems is supposed to be offering a redesigned Ride 135. I heard Ocean Kayak is coming out with something too. Next year looks great for those looking for a brand new kayak design!

Eric,

So is the redesign of the 135 above and beyond the mods for the X?

I found some of the info here. I just heard about the Big Rig today. They talk about how people might want to wait for a Ride 135 until next year. I heard a few months ago Ocean Kayak is coming out with a stand up style kayak with high/low seating. Going to be pretty exciting to see what comes out. I won't replace my Hobie but even though I like my Ride 115 it could be replaced if I like something a lot.

The "X" is strictly limited to the R115. The 135 isn't getting "X'ed" out this year.

If you see anything else from wildy it will most likely be a spruced up tarpon at the O.R. show next month

Why are they phasing out the Ride 115 already? A lot of people have that boat.

It's not being phased out, it'll still be offered. They're just coming out with the "X," which is specifically geared toward anglers. I'm not sure the "X" will put any more fish in anybody's yak, but it's got some pretty sweet features.

The price point, come September 1st, or so, will determine if those features are actually worth it or not. The major feature is a removable console that is specifically designed for electronics. Beefed up standing area--two additional scuppers under the seat--and some additional rigging options in the tankwell. Odds and ends here and there, should be more info out soon.

HAH! Like a couple hours ago...

Wow that looks to be a cool setup, course I just got a new ride115, but the better half loves to fish and has been lamenting not having a yak, might have to look at another next spring, got the ride on the water for the first time the other morning, got her slimed and I'm way past hooked on yak fishing, if I ever figure out how to post a pic on here will show her to you, and thanks picked up a lot of good tips on this site.

I just watched a couple videos for the Big Rig. I think I still would prefer the Big Tuna if I were in the market for that.

The Ride 115X is nice but I still think I will end up liking the way I have mine rigged up instead of that one.

I am also excited to see what Ocean Kayak rolls out with.
Being the most "elite" brand of Johnson outdoors (old town as well)
Combine the new old town predator along with losing their top Pro-Staffers (Jim Sammons, Jeff Herman, Ect,) and something "progressive" is bound to come.
Then of course on the opposite end of that... I'm still looking for a "Trident 15" to drop with a Jackson Kayak Logo on it.
Yes the cuda 14 is a good "offshore" boat. not exactly in the same class as the Largest Trident or even Tarpon 160....
I know you haven't seen Jim S. in the "High Seat" out there in the pacific. He is still begging for a longer sleeker yak to chase those off shore monsters that he is famous for. And the "Big Rig" isn't going to cut it unless mother shipping is the name of your game.
Endless possibilities.
Native= slayer= check.......Time for a Manta ray upgrade?
Feel free? Moken perfection?
Wildy? When was the last time we have seen a tarpon upgrade?
Personally I would like to see a thermoformed (think Hurricane, Ellie, ect) come out with a decent standing platform, at under 55 lbs and 1500 bucks.... Call it a dream... but I'm a dreamer i guess....
